Dr. Black, Mr. Hyde is a 1976 blaxploitation horror film. It was loosely inspired by the novella, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. The film stars Bernie Casey and Rosalind Cash and was directed by William Crain, who had also directed the successful Blacula for American International Pictures in 1972.
The film has Bernie Casey as Dr. Henry Pride. Pride has been experimenting with a serum that should cure hepatitis and regenerate liver cells. It's doesn't do that. It instead turns him into the white and sadistic Mr. Hyde. When his favorite hooker won't try his serum. he starts killing her Ho friends. Why is he pissed at Ho's? Henry's mother worked as a maid in a local bordello. When she fell ill and needed help, none of the Ho's lifted a finger to assist.
A screamin' demon rages inside, turnin' him into Mr Hyde... don't give him no sass or he'll kick yo' ass! |
Also features Rosalind Cash, known for her role opposite Charlton Heston back in The Omega Man. Also noteworthy, the Mr. Hyde make-up effects on Bernie Casey are by the legendary Stan Winston.

I do recommend this to all other fans of bad B-movies and blaxploitation films. A bad movie for all the right reasons.
